Moore to Show Teasers For Two Films at TIFF
Written by Mooreman on Monday 04 September 2006 - 13:44:59 | Read/Post Comment: 12 | email to someone printer friendly

Apologies for the lack of updates, there hasn't been much new of late with Moore. But we do have some exciting news that Moore will be at the Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place September 7 - 16, to show teaser footage of not only "Sicko," but of a second project called "The Great 04 Slacker Uprising." "Slacker" documents Moore's speaking tour to promote voters to vote against Bush. Unfortunately for mankind, not enough of the slackers paid attention!

Changing the subject, future updates may be sparse in the coming months. I myself am busy working on a number of projects, including a possible redesign of this website among others. But of course, if there is big news to report concerning Michael Moore, you will still be able to find it out on this website.
Moore’s Latest Letter: A Warning to Democrats
Written by Mooreman on Wednesday 09 August 2006 - 09:36:19 | Read/Post Comment: 9 | email to someone printer friendly

Michael Moore has responded to the Lieberman defeat with a new letter on his website, telling Democrats that if they continue to support this war, they will end up with the same fate. He even was tough on those Dems who were once for the war and now are against it, like Kerry and Edwards.

Moore on Hillary: “To Hillary, our first best hope for a woman to become president, I cannot for the life of me figure out why you continue to support Bush and his war. I'm sure someone has advised you that a woman can't be elected unless she proves she can kick ass just as crazy as any man. I'm here to tell you that you will never make it through the Democratic primaries unless you start now by strongly opposing the war.”

In other news…..A new book about Moore’s controversial visit to Utah Valley State College is being released, written by the former student body president Joe Vogel. It is called Free Speech 101: The Utah Valley Uproar Over Michael Moore. ….. On the Traverse front, Moore and festival organizers refused a request by Magnolia Films to pull the showing of their documentary Jesus Camp because they were afraid that conservative Christians will not go see a film that is “endorsed” by Moore. The films producers originally gave permission. This festival is not about politics, it’s about showing good movies, so good for Moore for not giving in.
Traverse Opening a Success
Written by Mooreman on Wednesday 02 August 2006 - 10:40:11 | Read/Post Comment: 7 | email to someone printer friendly

By all accounts, the opening of this year’s Traverse City Film Festival was a massive success, despite the almost unbearable heat. Reports are that Moore himself was very visible, meeting and talking to many of his fans face-to-face. Not quite the elitist liberal billionaire who is constantly surrounded by security who refuses to drink Poland Spring water Moore that Moore-haters would like you to believe exists.

“When the doors opened, Moore was stationed inside, posing for pictures, signing autographs and thanking people for coming.” – Detroit Free Press

Traverse City Film Festival Opens Today

The second annual Traverse City Film Festival begins today, and with that comes a flurry of Moore press coverage. The best news comes from Reuters, where Moore says he’s been getting love from Republicans.

“ ‘If you were to hang out with me here it won't be five or 10 minutes before you see a Republican hug me,’ Moore said.”

“Some in solidly Republican northern Michigan and elsewhere now believe that they made a "colossal mistake" in initially supporting the war in Iraq, Moore said, and they have let him know it in chance encounters on the streets of Traverse City, a resort town where he has relocated from New York.”

I still know plenty of Republicans who despise Moore, but it’s good to hear that some are willing to own up to their mistakes, a rarity indeed. In other news, Harvey Weinstein of Miramax, who backed Fahrenheit 9/11, is helping out Moore again with Traverse.
Detailed Traverse Film Festival Info
Written by Mooreman on Tuesday 25 July 2006 - 08:48:46 | Read/Post Comment: 5 | email to someone printer friendly

There was an in-depth article in Sunday’s Detroit Free Press that goes into great detail on the upcoming Traverse City Film Festival, as well as other Moore-related information. The article features a ton of new quotes from Moore concerning the festival and his upcoming “Sicko.”

Moore on Traverse: "It's a party, but it's not a political party. The whole thing was about me and some friends sitting around thinking about what movies we would want to see at a festival."

Moore on “Sicko”: "There are millions of middle-class and even upper-class people who cannot get access to the medical care they need. To me, this is a question of who we are as a country. It doesn't matter if you live in a red state or a blue state when you get sick."

Moore on films: "I want to make movies that create discussion. I want to see movies that create discussion. That's why I want to make this film festival a worldwide destination."

We'll keep you updated on all the goings on at Traverse as they become available.

It was announced yesterday that Moore will be presenting the inaugural Michigan Filmmaker Award to director and actor Jeff Daniels during the first day of this year's festival.

"We couldn't think of a better person to give our first award to," Moore said Thursday. "Jeff is not only one of the best American actors working today, he is also an exceptional independent filmmaker who has chosen to reside here in Michigan."
Ann Coulter Wants to Kill Innocent Americans
Written by Mooreman on Wednesday 19 July 2006 - 11:43:37 | Read/Post Comment: 11 | email to someone printer friendly

Ann Coulter is an evil bitch, plain and simple. Her continued requests for staff members of the NY Times to be killed are unbelievable. We all know she is an attention whore who just says outrageous things so people take notice of her remarkable dog-like features, but there are enough right-wing lunatics out there who will take her word as gospel and actually attempt some act of terror against the NY Times.

Here is what she told the New York Observer, “my only regret was that Timothy McVeigh didn't hit the New York Times building.” And then on a radio show, said Times employees, including Times executive editor Bill Keller, should be executed.

Coulter has crossed the line so many times, that some people are probably immune to her by now. But this may be the worst of all. A letter was sent to the Times last week that contained a white powder. It turned out to be nothing serious, but it’s just a matter of time before there is a serious attempt by some conservative nut to really harm someone at the newspaper. And if that does happen, we all know who to blame.

Join the Anti-War Blog Coalition
Written by Mooreman on Saturday 08 July 2006 - 22:58:28 | Read/Post Comment: 6 | email to someone printer friendly

Why join? Because we here at Michael Moore Online created this coalition for you! Because you oppose this war and you should unite with other bloggers to show your dissent.

The Anti-War Blog Coalition is a group of bloggers who are opposed to the war in Iraq. We oppose the false reasoning for starting the war and we continue to oppose the way this war is being conducted.

We support our troops 100 percent, which is why we want them to come home. Nothing can ever make up for their sacrifices and there is nothing the Bush Administration can do to ever make up for their own unprecedented ignorance and lack of regard for human life.

Over three years ago, Michael Moore stated at his less than popular Oscar acceptance speech that, “We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons.” His views were not received well at the time, but time has proven him right. We are still fighting this war for fictitious reasons!

If you are a blogger and you oppose the death and destruction that continues to take place in Iraq, then we ask that you join our coalition and be added to our blogroll.
Moore Gives Update on ‘Sicko,’ Release Date Now 2007
Written by Mooreman on Saturday 08 July 2006 - 08:38:58 | Read/Post Comment: 8 | email to someone printer friendly

Moore “came out of hiding” yesterday, with a new letter on his website that confirms our earlier report that ‘Sicko’ is nearing completion, but will not be released this year.

“At this point, we've shot about 75% of ‘Sicko’ and will soon begin putting it together,” Moore said. “It will be released in theaters sometime in 2007.”

Moore had some interesting comments on “Sicko,” saying that the film has changed course from its original intentions, much like his previous films.

Moore: “Along the way, we discover new roads to go down, roads that often surprise us and lead us to new ideas -- and challenge us to reconsider the ones we began with. That, I can say with certainty, is happening now as we shoot ‘Sicko.’ I don't think the country needs a movie that tells you that HMOs and the pharmaceutical companies suck. Everybody knows that. I'd like to show you some things you don't know. So stay tuned for where this movie has led me. I think you might enjoy it.”

We are happy to hear things are going well with filming and are very excited for 2007. Stay tuned to this site for all your “Sicko” news updates.
'Sicko' Almost Done
Written by Justin on Tuesday 04 July 2006 - 10:21:23 | Read/Post Comment: 5 | email to someone printer friendly

According to Variety, Michael Moore was quoted last month as saying that "Sicko" is "three quarters of the way done" and that the release is still planned for late this year. Nothing too groundbreaking, but it is good to hear that everything is still on track for a 2006 release.
Al Gore on the Daily Show

We continue to keep tabs on Al Gore, who we hope is the Democratic nominee for President in 2008.

Traverse Film Festival Update
Written by Justin on Saturday 24 June 2006 - 09:25:51 | Read/Post Comment: 5 | email to someone printer friendly

An article from yesterday’s USA Today informs us that two major films will have their regional premiere at Moore’s upcoming Traverse Film Festival. The first being a mockumentary directed by and staring Jeff Goldblum and the second being the latest comedy from director Woody Allen. These two films will be added to a lineup of almost 60 other films, including an 11 film tribute to director Stanley Kubrick.

Moore had this to say in a statement Thursday: "We are very proud to be the first to show these two wonderful films in our part of the country. It's rare that smart, adult comedies such as these are made these days and we want to encourage more of that kind of filmmaking."

The festival will take place from July 31 through August 6.
Republicans Play Politics with American Lives
Written by Justin on Thursday 22 June 2006 - 21:36:21 | Read/Post Comment: 7 | email to someone printer friendly

As the Senate continues to debate the idea of withdrawing troops from Iraq, the Republican true colors are showing. This from the NY Times:

"White House officials including the national security adviser, Stephen J. Hadley, outlined ways in which Republican lawmakers could speak more forcefully about the war …The meetings were followed by the distribution of a 74-page briefing book to Congressional offices from the Pentagon to provide ammunition for what White House officials say will be a central line of attack against Democrats from now through the midterm elections: that the withdrawal being advocated by Democrats would mean thousands of troops would have died for nothing, would give extremists a launching pad from which to build an Islamo-fascist empire and would hand the United States its must humiliating defeat since Vietnam."

Senator Feingold sums it up well: "If the policy is wrong, if we made a mistake, we owe it to their families, we owe it to those who are injured, to those who are still there and those who will go and that will die in the future, to correct that mistake."

Way to go G.O.P., let troops die in a winless war so that you can grab a few more seats in the House and Senate. And while Republicans continue with their evil ways, Democrats continue to be disorganized and divided. While Kerry and Feingold are calling for troop withdrawal, the majority of Democratic Senators are not behind them.

So like we said before, since the present Dem politicians can’t get it together, we need someone else. And if you ask Bill Maher, he thinks Al Gore will be the next president. We hope he's right.
